Q: What was the point of Ariel's analysis and what is PERP?
A: Ariel wanted to analyze something about DeFi, and PERP is a decentralized exchange that focuses on perpetual features and leverage. It allows traders to invest or trade more than they're actually putting in from their money by leveraging their position. Futures are another financial product that represents the price fluctuation, but traders are not buying the actual asset. Perpetual futures have no expiration date and work through a funding rate mechanism that incentivizes players to take the least popular side of the trade. Perp also has builder ready composability, which allows other protocols to build on top of their protocols.
